Adoption of decree on lease of land expected

Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic expressed hope today that a decree which will enable local self-governments to dispose of land by lease at prices below market value will be adopted soon.

Dulic said at a press conference on social housing that investors who are able to lease land at lower prices will be the first to invest in production, since it is very important to carry out re-industrialisation in Serbia and make a large investment into production and creation of jobs.
According to him, the decree will clearly define the procedure by which the local government can make an evaluation, while the final decision will be made by the Serbian government.
He said that Ikea from Sweden are one of the investors who are interested in leasing land at lower prices. In return, Ikea will have to invest in production plants.
The conference on social housing was jointly organised by the Cabinet of the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, UN HABITAT, with the support of the Italian government and the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning.
