3.5% GDP fall in first quarter of 2009

The Serbian Statistics Office today stated that in the first quarter of 2009 GDP fell by 3.5 % compared to the same period last year.
The greatest fall was recorded in the processing industry sector, which decreased by 20.9%. The stone and ore mining sector fell by 7.4%, the building sector by 14.4% and the trade sector by 6.2%
The transport sector grew by 10.7% and the financial mediation sector by 5.9%.
The processing industry, trade and building sectors contributed to the fall in GDP.
