First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic and Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac said today in Kula that joint exercises between the army and the police are of utmost importance for the security of the state and its citizens.

The training of Serbian units is organised by RAID, the French anti-terrorist unit, whose members will also take part in the exercise alongside special unit members from Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro and Bulgaria.
Dacic said that police and army special units are the pride of Serbia and are trained to answer all security challenges.

French Ambassador to Serbia Jean-Francois Terral, who also attended the exercise, explained that cooperation between French and Serbian special units is important for the exchange of experiences.
Terral said that the exercise was inspired by the experiences which the French special units acquired in Afghanistan and the Lebanon, where they were engaged to protect the French Ambassador.
He added that the French special units have experience in fighting terrorism, recalling the terrorist attack in the Paris Metro.

Dacic and Sutanovac thanked the French embassy in Belgrade and the French government for their support and help to the Serbian special units.
Sutanovac voiced his pleasure at the fact that members of special units from regional countries also took part in the exercise, stressing the importance of the exchange of data for efficient operations against organised crime and terrorism.
Dacic recalled that special units are occasionally engaged in Serbia in the fight against organised criminal groups and in kidnappings, adding that a joint exercise of Serbian and French units was recently carried out at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla airport, aimed at demonstrating hostage rescue from an aircraft.
