At a joint press conference, Jeremic said he had talked with his French counterpart about Serbia’s EU future, adding that France strongly supports Serbia’s EU aspirations.
Jeremic said that Serbia has shown that it can be a reliable partner in the EU and recalled that it met all challenges in 2008 without compromising its principles and the Constitution.
As for Serbia’s next move, following Serbian President Boris Tadic’s letter to the UN and NATO concerning the formation of Kosovo security forces and therefore the violation of
the UN Security Council Resolution 1244, Jeremic said that Serbia will continue its struggle only through diplomatic means.
He said he will meet with Kouchner again on Jan 26 at the EU Council of Ministers, taking place in Brussels.
Kouchner pointed out that Serbia’s place is in the EU and gave his appreciation for Serbia’s endorsement of EULEX in Kosovo-Metohija, adding that the entire Balkans should also be part of the EU.
