Serbian Minister of Education and Sport Ljiljana Colic and Austrian Ambassador to Belgrade Hannes Porias opened today the second conference of the Twinning Project entitled Regional Decentralisation of Education Management in Serbia, whose objective is to provide opportunities for exchange of experience with partners from Austria, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Norway and Switzerland, and the presentation of future plans.
Opening the conference, Minister Colic said that Serbia can achieve stability and prosperity only by pursuing the European path. Serbia needs its European family to live there as an equal and adult member. That way, Serbia will belong to Europe, but will remain true to herself at the same time.
"We have a lot of work to do in many spheres. However, the education has a special strategic position. Recently I said that actually I am the one who heads the Ministry of Capital Investment, because there can be no greater capital investment than our children, " said Colic.
The Minister of Education said that the Ministry organised and participated in many international meetings, conferences and seminars in the past three years. She voiced hope that these meetings will prove to be worth of funds and efforts invested in them, adding that she will pay special attention to their analysis.
Austrian Ambassador Hannes Porias said at today's meeting that education is the centre of development and future. If the state assumes such position, it will create a good and efficient system. He highlighted the importance of this project and voiced hope that it will yield good results.
The conference on regional decentralisation of education will end on Sunday.
