Vukic, who is also the chief of the negotiating group for Chapter 24 that deals with justice, freedom and security, said that in the previous three days the Serbian delegation presented its view of the level of harmonisation of the national legislation in these fields with the EU acquis to date, and plans for future work.
He pointed out that the experiences in monitoring the implementation of standards in the fight against corruption, organised crime, border security and the work of the judiciary, especially those gained through EU accession of the neighbouring Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia, will be of great benefit to our country.
The competent state authorities shall, as he explained, be guided in their work by clearly defined standards and criteria both for opening negotiations, as well as for their management and closure.
Vukic pointed out that the majority of Serbian citizens support the accession to the EU and that he expects the Ministry and the competent state authorities to efficiently organise work on the negotiations, and wrap them up quickly and efficiently, reads a statement by the Ministry of the Interior.
