Serbia committed to strengthening cooperation with São Tomé and Príncipe

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić spoke today with Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe Américo Ramos about bilateral relations, current international issues and opportunities for improving cooperation.

Đurić thanked São Tomé and Príncipe for its principled position on the non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo, i.e., for withdrawing the previous decision on recognition, emphasising that Serbia highly values consistent respect for international law, the UN Charter and the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.

The Serbian Foreign Minister stressed that Serbia is committed to strengthening political and economic relations with African countries and that it wants to improve cooperation with São Tomé and Príncipe in the areas of education, health, agriculture, digitalisation, culture and other sectors of mutual interest.

Serbia is interested in intensifying political dialogue and the exchange of visits, because it believes that this is the best way to further strengthen bilateral ties, the Serbian Foreign Minister said.

He also conveyed gratitude for the confirmation of São Tomé and Príncipe’s participation in Specialised Expo 2027 in Belgrade, emphasising that this event will be a significant opportunity to present the potential of the participating countries and further connect Serbia with partners around the world, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
