The Ministry of the Interior stated today that international firefighting and rescue teams and aircraft from several European countries are gradually joining firefighting operations, after our county accepted international assistance in order to respond more effectively to fires that have affected several areas.

International firefighting teams join fire extinguishing operations

As part of international assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, a total of four rescEU Black Hawk helicopters have been deployed to Serbia – two from the Czech Republic with 13 crew members and technical staff, one from Slovakia with 7 crew members and one from Romania with 4 crew members.
The Romanian and Slovak helicopter teams immediately upon arrival joined the firefghting operations coordinated by the Helicopter Unit of the Ministry of the Interior.
The Czech team with two helicopters is currently at the base of the Helicopter Unit of the Ministry of the Interior, at the Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade. They landed at 14:45 and preparatory activities for tomorrow’s deployment are underway.
The Romanian firefighting and rescue team with vehicles arrived at the operations base in Bela Crkva, where they will join the activities on the ground. This team has 69 members and 15 vehicles.
International assistance will be further expanded by the deployment of a firefighting and rescue team from the Federal Republic of Germany, with 56 members and 24 vehicles whose arrival is expected on 24 August.
