Deputy Prime Minister and President of the National Council for Cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) Rasim Ljajic spoke today with ICTY Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz, who is on a working visit to Belgrade.
Ljajic and Brammertz agreed that the cooperation between Serbia and the ICTY Prosecutor's Office is at a very high level in the delivery of documents and the access to archives of state authorities and witnesses, and that there are no outstanding issues.
Brammertz said that the Report on cooperation of the Republic of Serbia, which will be presented to the UN Security Council in December, will be positive.
He also informed Ljajic about the stages of individual procedures that are currently conducted before the Tribunal.
Ljajic raised again the question of Serbia’s initiative that the persons convicted by the Tribunal serve their sentences in the countries of the region, particularly stressing the readiness of the Republic of Serbia to conclude such an agreement with the ICTY.
The National Council for Cooperation with the ICTY will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure a smooth continuation of cooperation in all areas, reads a statement of the Council.
