The two officials looked at the possibilities for strengthening cooperation in the domain of joint training and participation in multinational operations, as well as in military education, military economic and military technical cooperation.
Serbia’s efforts at boosting regional ties and faster integration in the EU were also discussed.
The two ministers concluded that conditions have been created for a full cooperation in the field of defence under the Agreement on strategic partnership between Serbia and France.
Rodic pointed out that the Serbian Ministry of Defence is firmly committed to continuation of cooperation with France in the participation in multinational operations.
The French Defence Minister commended the Serbian government for the progress achieved in the negotiations with Pristina, and for Serbia’s involvement in international peacekeeping operations together with France.
He said that the training of the two teams for vessel protection (AVPD), that took place from 11-15 March this year in Lorraine in France, represents an important step in the field of joint preparations and involvement in multinational operations and the most important point of cooperation between the two countries.
As of December 2013, France will be the leading nation in the operation “Atlanta”, and the Serbian Ministry of Defence plans to send one Serbian Army officer to the French military ship, as part of the multinational headquarters (FHQ).
Rodic will continue his two-day visit to France by taking part in an inter-ministerial meeting held on the occasion of preparations for the observation of the 100th anniversary of the First World War.
The meeting, which is being held at the initiative of Minister Delegate to the French Minister of Defence in charge of war veterans Kader Arif, commenced last night with a ceremony of reviving the eternal flame at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, reads a statement by the Ministry of Defence.
