Minister of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection Zorana Mihajlovic and member of the Board of Directors of Italian company “Gemo” Aldo Bevilacqua signed today a memorandum of understanding envisaging the possibility of investing over €100 million in the construction of co-generation plants in Serbia after the model of public-private partnership.
Mihajlovic said on this occasion that the construction of co-generation plants in Serbia would enable a greater energy efficiency of major energy users in the public sector, while promoting public-private partnerships as a model of investment in the energy sector.
The realisation of this investment depends on the results of the analysis to be conducted by the investor on the possibilities for development of new combined plants in partnership with the Clinical Centre of Serbia, Belgrade Airport "Nikola Tesla", public company "Novi Sad Plant", Zrenjanin City Hospital and public company "Grejanje" Pancevo.
The total installed capacity of co-generation facilities envisaged by the memorandum is 75 megawatts of electrical and 65 megawatts of thermal energy, and the value of the investment is higher than €100 million, reads the statement by the Ministry.
