The statement says that Fule expressed a particular desire to visit the European Integration Office in order to personally congratulate all its employees on the work that has been done to date.
Fule said that this Office has always been at the forefront during all key challenges that Serbia had and still has on its path to the EU.
Amidst frequent elections and many changes in the government, the European Integration Office has been a compass for the whole Serbian administration, and continued to work calmly regardless of the circumstances, in both good and bad times, Fule underlined.
He emphasised that the Stabilisation and Association Agreement will finally come into force in September, which is a big achievement for Serbia.
You had other successful stories as well, all based on a calm, continuous and serious work. I would like to remind you all of the visa liberalisation, one of the government’s most important goals that was achieved as early as 2009, or to the very positive opinion by the European Commission to your application for membership, the European Enlargement Commissioner said.
He added that the preparation of 2,500 answers to the questionnaire of the EU in record time is one the achievements which everybody in the Office will surely remember for a long time.
Fule pointed out that this Office is a place where everyday coordination of the accession process will take place, the address the whole Serbian administration will go to and at which it will look for guidelines regarding the challenging harmonisation of regulations with the EU acquis.
I am convinced that you will continue to be equally professional, dedicated and persistent in overcoming the next steps on Serbia’s path towards the EU. I am looking forward to collaborating with all of you in the challenges that are ahead of Serbia, Fule said at the end of his visit to the European Integration Office.
The European Enlargement Commissioner was accompanied by representatives of the European Commission, who will speak tomorrow at the Seminar on pre-accession negotiations for state authorities and inform them about the complex negotiating process.
At the beginning of the seminar, the participants will be addressed by Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Suzana Grubjesic, it is added in the statement.
