Serbian Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management Danilo Golubovic said last night that an agreement had been reached with representatives of Bavaria’s Agriculture Ministry on further cooperation with the aim of improving trade between Serbia and the German state.
Golubovic noted at a press conference following the opening of the Days of the Bavarian Economy in Belgrade that talks with the Bavarian delegation also touched on the subject of cattle breeding.
The Deputy Minister explained that there was a $1.8 million trade surplus in favour of Germany in the agricultural sector, with Serbia exporting $61.1 million in agricultural products to Germany in 2004 while imports from Bavaria amounted to $62.9 million.
He announced that a Serbian-Bavarian delegation will meet in Belgrade between March 14 and 16 to define concrete programmes of cooperation by sector.
Serbian Minister Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management Ivana Dulic-Markovic said that Serbia is recording surpluses in trade with Bavaria, exporting fruit and fruit products and importing milk, dairy products, and hop.
Belgrade’s Intercontinental Hotel is hosting an exhibition of Bavaria’s confectionery and dairy industry, which opened last night.
The Days of the Bavarian Economy will last until March 12.
