The Ministry of Justice and Public Administration says in a statement that Selakovic stressed that Serbia is now more than ever on the path to the European integration, firmly committed to building the rule of law and harmonising its laws with the tendencies of modern European states.
The Minister said in this context that today's visit is a good time to further strengthen cooperation between the two ministries.
Karl said that Serbia and Austria already have bilateral and multilateral agreements governing cooperation in justice, but also added that it is still necessary to further strengthen and expand them.
Selakovic informed Karl about recent activities of the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration, and reiterated that the fight against corruption and organised crime is one of the main priorities of the government of Serbia, which has shown strong political will to fight corruption at all levels.
Selakovic and Karl have reached consensus on the need to focus attention on the exchange of experiences between the Serbian Ministry of Justice and Public Administration and experts from Austria in strengthening accountability and efficiency of the judiciary, the fight against corruption and further development of e-governance in the judiciary.
Also, they agreed that the Austrian Ministry of Justice can provide significant support in the field of introducing, and then strengthening the system of notary public in Serbia.
Karl welcomed the stabilisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, and added that she will advocate giving Serbia a date for the start of negotiations on EU membership by the end of the month, it is added in the statement.
