In a statement to the Beta agency, Milosevic said that at today’s successful meeting, both sides prepared the Protocol on Police Cooperation, which will be signed in the following months.
Besides analysis of previous cooperation, Milosevic and Angelakos discussed police cooperation in securing sports facilities, especially in regards to the Greek experience during the 2004 Olympic Games, and its application towards the forthcoming European Basketball Championship to be held in Belgrade in September.
Milosevic stated that he has met with almost all of his colleagues from the region as part of a policy of establishing personal contacts for closer cooperation with police chiefs of Balkan countries.
He stated that in the following months he would meet with the rest and added that a joint meeting of police chiefs of Balkan countries was scheduled in Belgrade, on Security Day, June 3.
The assistant minister mentioned the case of Dejan Milenkovic Bagzi, who was arrested in Thessalonica on July 2004 and extradited to Serbia-Montenegrin authorities at the beginning of February, as an example of good cooperation with the Greek police.
Milosevic added that there is always room for improving cooperation, especially in the fight against terrorism, organised crime, illegal migration and people trafficking.
Talks between Milosevic and Angelakos will continue tonight, and a visit to a Greek police unit for the fight against terrorism and organised crime has been planned for Tuesday.
