Selakovic said on the occasion that the Ministry of Justice has made significant steps to improve the protection of human rights in Serbia, as well as the work of the Advocacy Team at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, which is under the auspices of the Ministry.
He pointed out that the Ministry provided funding for young lawyers to go to practice and training to this court in order to get within the next two years ten young lawyers with the best practice.
The goal of the Ministry of Justice is to make an effective legal system and justice more accessible to citizens before national courts in order to reduce the number of applications of our citizens before the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, the Minister pointed out.
Selakovic noted that the Ministry received a positive opinion of the Venice Commission regarding the draft proposals amending three judicial laws which envisage a new form of protection of the right to a speedy trial.
According to him, the final working versions of national strategies for judicial reform and the fight against corruption have been published, and public debates on these strategies and action plans for their implementation will be organised in the near future.
Mignon has praised the performance of the Ministry of Justice to date, as well as its plans for the future, noting that the results achieved confirm that if you truly want something, you can achieve it.
