Expounding the proposed amendments to members of the Serbian parliament, Dinkic explained that professionalisation of management will be introduced to public enterprises as well as public competitions for the election of directors, whereas management boards will be abolished.
The Minister pointed out that officials of political parties will no longer be eligible for the position of director of a public enterprise.
The competitions for the election of the director will be carried out by a special body which will propose to the competent minister, the provincial secretary and the president of the municipality to choose the director among at least three candidates.
Another new feature is the transparency in the work of public companies, Dinkic said, adding that companies will be required to publish results and business plans quarterly on their websites, at which all job openings will also have to be published.
The Minister pointed out that the number of members of supervisory boards will be reduced, to three in local public enterprises, and to five in public enterprises at the level of the Republic.
He underlined that one member of each supervisory board will be a representative of workers, while in the public companies at the level of the Republic one member will be independent.
The Serbian government and the Ministry of Finance and Economy will have control mechanisms with which they will follow the work of public companies in the policy of wages, employment and payment deadlines, Dinkic stated.
