Following a tête-à-tête meeting with Pellegrini and a plenary meeting of the two delegations, attended by Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović, Minister of Domestic and Foreign Trade Jagoda Lazarević, Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić, Minister of Health Zlatibor Lončar and Minister of Tourism and Youth Husein Memić, Vučić said that the two countries are connected by a deep historical tradition.
The President also said that further military-technical cooperation had been agreed, and that discussions had covered Slovakia’s experience in the field of nuclear energy and renewable energy sources, the engagement of Slovak companies in Serbia and the creation of a favourable investment climate.
He expressed his gratitude to Slovakia for respecting the territorial integrity of Serbia, as well as international public law and the Charter of the United Nations.
Pellegrini said that, for the further security of the European Union, it is important to continue the process of enlargement to the Western Balkans region, including Serbia.
He described the postponement of the opening of clusters as a political game played by some European Union member states that are acting unfairly towards Serbia. If someone meets the conditions, they should be allowed to open clusters one by one, he emphasised.
Serbia is a key player in maintaining stability and peace in the region, he said, adding that Slovakia will always support Serbia on its path to the EU.
