The Serbian Statistics Office said today that retail prices in Serbia in January rose 2.7 percent month-on-month, with prices of goods rising 0.9 percent and services 7.8 percent. Compared with January 2004, retail prices were up 14.4 percent.
The statement went on to say that the cost of living in January was by 2.2 percent higher than in December 2004 and by 13 percent than in January 2004.
The prices of agricultural products rose 3.1 percent month-on-month, manufactured food products climbed 2.1 percent, and drinks 1.2 percent.
Non-food products were by 0.2 percent more expensive than in December but the cost of electricity was down 1.7 percent. The prices of liquid fuels and lubricants also fell 3.1 percent against December 2004.
The prices of services rose 7.8 percent on average, with the sharpest hike, 18.5 percent, recorded in the costs utility services.
