On this occasion, Đedović Handanović emphasised that Đerdap 3 is the largest energy project that Serbia is developing.
According to her, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding will enable the exchange of information regarding the project and is the result of several years of work by teams from the two countries, as preliminary studies and analyses have already been completed.
She recalled that the Đerdap 3 project is being developed in accordance with the Agreement on Strategic Cooperation in the Field of Energy between the Republic of Serbia and the United States of America.
Đedović Handanović said that, building on the long-standing cooperation between Serbia and Romania, another agreement of exceptional importance has been signed to further deepen the two countries’ partnership in the field of energy, which has continued since 1963.
Bolojan stated that Romania and Serbia have a long-standing and successful cooperation in the energy sector, during which the Đerdap 1 and Đerdap 2 hydropower plants have operated successfully for decades and represent one of the most important energy projects for both countries.
He stated that discussions have begun on a potential new joint project through the exchange of information regarding the Đerdap 3 pumped-storage hydropower plant, with the aim of better understanding all its potential benefits and impacts.
