President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić announced today that a new package of measures to improve citizens’ living standards, worth more than €600 million, will benefit more than three million people.
Speaking at the Palace of Serbia, Vučić explained that the package includes support for pensioners, announcing that €377.2 million will be allocated by the end of September or the beginning of October for 1,663,000 pensioners.
He pointed out that these measures will be particularly significant for citizens with lower incomes and weaker financial circumstances, explaining that, if economic growth exceeds 3%, salaries and pensions will be substantially increased before the end of the year.
The President also announced the distribution of 30,000 vouchers worth RSD 10,000 each to pensioners receiving pensions of up to RSD 80,000, stressing that all pensioners with pensions up to that amount will be eligible, covering a large number of the country’s oldest citizens.
Vučić stated that, as part of the new financial support package, recipients of social assistance will get a one-off payment of RSD 25,000. The same amount will also be paid per child to recipients of child allowance, as well as to beneficiaries of veterans’ allowances.
He noted that this is a major and highly significant support package intended for socially vulnerable groups, emphasising that its purpose is to help citizens cope more easily with the autumn and winter months.
The President also said that everyone requiring regular therapy will be able to purchase medicines at lower prices, for which approximately €80 million will be allocated, noting that this measure will be in force for one year.
At the same time, he confirmed that new prescription medicines will be introduced as part of the package, explaining that these include medicines for heart failure and blood clotting disorders. This measure will cost the state an additional €33 million-€34 million, or approximately RSD 3.8 billion.
The President added that the state has purchased 10 mobile outpatient clinics worth a total of RSD 225 million. The procurement procedure is also under way for an additional 20 mobile outpatient clinics and five mobile pharmacies, with a total value of €4 million.
