Lopatka, who is on his first official visit to Serbia since September when he became the State Secretary, presented the experiences in the functioning of the government at the regional level in Austria, adding that the process of regionalisation is long, but added that one should be patient and persistent.
The Minister presented the organisation of power in Serbia and explained that Serbia is currently regionalised asymmetrically, and that we are a country of great regional differences, noting that the job of the Ministry of Regional Development and Local Self-Government is to reduce those differences.
They agreed that the two countries cooperate at a very high level, but noted that this cooperation can be further improved.
Kalanovic observed that Austria is one of Serbia’s largest investors, whose total investment over the past 12 years has exceeded €3 billion, adding that over 300 Austrian companies are present in Serbia in various sectors.
Deputy National Coordinator for the Danube Strategy Dragijana Petrovic also attended the meeting which discussed further promotional activities and realisation of the Strategy’s priorities in Serbia.
Austria has been actively engaged in the Danube Strategy as its key coordinator in three priority areas: internal waterways, boosting human resources and increasing the institutional capacity, reads a statement by the Ministry.
