Prior to the holding of the joint session of the governments of Serbia and Republika Srpska in Banjaluka, Kalanovic and Cvijanovic held a meeting at which they discussed further activities on this project.
The Minister explained that 25 municipalities with 1,300,000 inhabitants will be included in the Podrinje project, which will create prospects in all social areas for the local people.
She said that a conference will be organised soon at which representatives of all 25 municipalities and regional chambers of commerce will get familiar with the project and will be given an opportunity to propose concrete initiatives for improvement of cooperation.
Kalanovic noted that the aim of the Podrinje project is to facilitate and improve the life of people from both sides of the Drina river and added that it will create opportunity for cooperation in the fields of economy, health, tourism, culture and education.
The project will be realised at three levels – national, regional and local.
One of the first projects will be turning the Drina into a transport corridor which will link people from both sides of the river with modern infrastructure.
Cvijanovic pointed out that this is not an isolated project, but a project that serves as a platform for everything that will come in the future.
