Nikolic stressed the need for the public to condemn the attacks and threats against journalists, adding that courts and prosecutors need to give priority to cases related to violence against journalists.
He also pointed out that it is necessary that all state bodies use their best efforts to help shed light on the murder of journalists.
The State Secretary called on all government organs to take everything in their jurisdiction in order to reveal and prosecute perpetrators of crimes committed against journalists.
The pardoning for journalist Laszlo Sas was assessed as positive, which is a significant step for press freedom, the officials agreed.
Nikolic said that the reform of the Criminal Code was also discussed.
OSCE representatives insisted on the fact that Serbia is a country where there are still attacks on journalists and even murder cases that were not revealed, such as the cases of Slavko Curuvija, Milan Pantic and Dada Vujasinovic, the statement said.
