The Ministry says in a statement that Obradovic
is attending a meeting which concerns cooperation between China and the countries of Central and Southeast Europe, taking place in Beijing.
Apart from the 12 projects chosen by the Mixed Committee for the period 2011–2012 which are already under way, the meeting also looked at other projects.
Special attention was paid to encouraging innovation and the ways in which science ought to facilitate the development of economic relations, thus, in turn, aiding the economic development of the two countries.
Taking into account that China sets aside large sums for development of science and innovation, Obradovic proposed to representatives of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology to examine the possibility of investing in mutually useful projects in Serbia, especially in science and technology parks which Serbia is making now.
Wan Gang welcomed this initiative and suggested the establishment of a joint scientific-research centre.
Speaking about the importance of science and technology parks, he underlined that such parks generate 12.8% of China’s gross national product together with the economy.
The two officials agreed that it is necessary to increase the exchange of scientific workers, encourage companies to invest and put the latest scientific and technological achievements in the function of the economy and economic growth.
It was also agreed to enhance cooperation in innovation, biotechnology, physics, development of new energy technologies, agriculture and other areas, it is added in the statement.
