New composition of Serbian Electoral Commission elected

The Serbian parliament appointed today members and deputy members of the Serbian Electoral Commission (RIK), as well as Mladen Mladenovic and Radoslav Vujovic as deputy secretaries-general of the parliament.

Dejan Djurdjevic of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) was appointed President of RIK and Tamara Stojcevic of the Democratic Party (DS) his deputy.
The Secretary of RIK is Jana Ljubicic, who is also Secretary of the parliament, and her deputy is Veljko Odalovic.
RIK in its permanent makeup consists of a president and 16 members appointed by the Serbian parliament at the proposal of parliamentary groups. RIK has a secretary appointed by the Serbian parliament, and the president, RIK members and its secretary have deputies. All of them must have a degree in law.
This body, among other things, ensures the legality of enforcement of laws, organises the technical preparation for elections, monitors the enforcement and gives explanations regarding the enforcement of the Law on election of deputies and establishes uniform standards for election materials.
