Members of the Serbian parliament today elected Nebojsa Stefanovic of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) as new parliament speaker.

Of 205 MPs who participated in the voting, Stefanovic gained the support of 142 MPs, 48 were against and 15 abstained.
Stefanovic was born in 1976 in Belgrade where he graduated from the Ninth Belgrade Gymnasium and afterwards from the Faculty of Business Studies at the Megatrend University where he also obtained his Master’s degree last year.
He speaks English and Russian and he is married, with one daughter.
