“Serbia remembers its heroes, known and unknown, who gave their lives for the victory over fascism”, Djukic-Dejanovic wrote in the Memorial Book.
Wreaths were also laid by Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac and Head of the Serbian Army Chief of General Staff Ljubisa Dikovic, as well as a delegation of the Serbian Army.
Representatives from the Russian embassy in Belgrade and the City of Belgrade laid wreaths at the monument to Soviet veterans on Mt Avala.
Wreaths were also laid by Serbian soldiers, including veterans from World War Two.
At the cemetery of the liberators of Belgrade in World War Two a ceremony was held to observe Victory Day. Wreaths were laid with high state and military honours in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, Ministry of Defence, the City of Belgrade and embassies of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Azerbaijan in Serbia.
