The Serbian Electoral Commission (RIK) adopted last night the Guidelines for holding the parliamentary and presidential elections in Kosovo-Metohija, which prescribes that after polling stations get closed in the southern province, votes will not be counted in the province, but in Raska.
RIK adopted these Guidelines in a situation where without cooperation with the OSCE Mission it is not possible to guarantee the safety of participants in the electoral process.
The Guidelines were adopted on the basis of the Information of the Serbian Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija that was sent to RIK, and which was established on the basis of contacts with representatives of the OSCE.
The Guidelines prescribe that the polling officials must take without delay to the seat of the Raska municipality the sealed ballot boxes with all the used ballot papers, extracts from the electoral rolls and the sealed envelopes containing unused ballot papers and hand them over to coordinators of RIK.
RIK coordinators will then take care that polling officials open ballot boxes at the seat of the municipality and determine the results of the presidential elections and the elections for deputies.
