This directive means that anyone who is not granted asylum in Sweden after 1 May this year will have an imposed ban on entering the Schengen area for a period of one to five years.
It also applies to asylum seekers who have applied for a residence permit. Those who are rejected will have to leave the Schengen zone within two weeks.
Those who receive an order for eviction will have to leave the zone within four weeks from the date of entry into force of the decision, the statement said, adding that those persons will be returned under the Agreement on readmission, which the Republic of Serbia signed with the EU.
