Granting candidate status to Serbia recommended

EU foreign ministers decided today to recommend to the European Council to grant EU candidate status to Serbia at the upcoming two-day summit to be held on 1 and 2 March.

Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic said today that the granting of candidate status is the crown of everything that this government has done since the beginning of its mandate.
He explained that the candidacy is a step towards full membership and added that Serbia will have to make many single steps of which some will be formal, and some will represent a level of reforms that will have to be fulfilled.
