The OSCE has 56 member states from Vladivostok to Vancouver and it is committed to various issues, from preserving peace and controlling weapons to monitoring elections and protecting the freedom of the media and environmental protection.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic said that Serbia’s candidacy is a confirmation of the country’s huge renown at the OSCE, adding that Serbia’s OSCE presidency will most certainly help to speed up the transformation of the Balkans into a dynamic region.
Switzerland’s candidacy for OSCE presidency in 2014 will also be decided upon today.
Serbia will preside according to a new model of successive presidency of two states, therefore it has already formulated the principles for cooperation with Switzerland.
