The document also states that some key issues such as judicial reform, fighting corruption and the election law, remain unresolved.
PACE assessed that Serbia is on the right track and has adopted an impressive number of laws, but also indicated that it is important to ensure proper functioning and implementation of new legislative framework.
The resolution welcomes dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and the agreements reached to date and invites the parties to dialogue to implement these agreements and continue talks.
PACE welcomed Serbia’s efforts towards EU membership and recalled that the European Commission assessed on 9 December 2011 that Serbia has made considerable progress, while the EU Council of Ministers will decide in February or March whether to grant Serbia candidate status for EU membership.
The resolution commends the cooperation of Serbian authorities, and the remaining tasks that Belgrade should fulfil to end the monitoring process are judicial reform, adoption and implementation of effective anti-corruption legislation, improvement of the situation in the media and full implementation of the rights of minorities, especially Roma.
