Opening an international scientific gathering of researchers in defence technologies “OTEH 2011”, in which representatives from 15 states are taking part, Sutanovac highlighted the importance of the Military Technical Institute for the advancement and improvement of the technological base of the entire Serbian industry.
The Military Technical Institute plays one of the key roles as our greatest research and development institution in the defence remit, the Minister observed, stressing the importance of international cooperation in this field.
Sutanovac told the press that a number of states are interested in joint investment in the development of weapons and military equipment in Serbia which could later be sold to third markets.
As far as military industry is concerned, Serbia is one of the largest exporters in south-eastern Europe, the Minister underlined, reiterating that the most complex product in this industry is Lasta aircraft, while the most expensive product by piece is howitzer Nora.
Other complex products are rocket system Bumbar and unmanned crafts.
The meeting concerned aerodynamics and flight dynamics, weapons systems, telecommunications and information systems, medicine in the function of defence and similar.
Works and papers from Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, France, Italy, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Algeria, Australia, New Zealand, Slovenia, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina will be presented at the conference.
