Minister of European Integration in a caretaker capacity Nemanja Starović met today with a delegation of leading Portuguese media outlets to discuss the current stage of Serbia’s European integration process, the implementation of reforms and the country’s expectations regarding the further pace of accession negotiations.

Starović said that full membership of the European Union remains Serbia’s strategic commitment, emphasising that the country continues to implement reforms and align its legislation with the EU acquis.
The Minister stated that Serbia is not seeking shortcuts, but expects its progress to be assessed objectively, in line with the results achieved and the merit-based principle.
He noted that Serbia’s goal is to implement all necessary reforms by the end of 2027 and be fully prepared for membership of the European Union.
Starović particularly highlighted the importance of accelerating the enlargement policy, assessing that more visible progress by candidate countries would help strengthen citizens’ confidence in the European process, as well as the stability and prosperity of the entire Western Balkans region.
