Bogdanovic acquainted MPs in detail about the chronology of events in the north of the province, noting that such behaviour by KFOR was interpreted by Serbs in the province as support to Pristina’s goals.
By behaving in such a manner, instead of pacifying tension, KFOR helped to create an impression that the military mission is in a violent breach of Resolution 1244, which stirred fears in Serbs in northern Kosovo-Metohija that Pristina may achieve its goals.
This led to unrests and to setting Jarinje administrative crossing on fire, the Minister observed, adding that the unfortunate events at Brnjak and Jarinje crossings are the greatest challenge to peace and stability and an attempt by Pristina to establish its institutions in the north of the province.
The Parliament must endorse the government’s activities in Kosovo-Metohija, it must demonstrate unity and send a message to people living south of the Ibar River that Serbia intends to retain the province, Bogdanovic concluded.
