Milutin Mrkonjic
Presenting the proposal before members of the Serbian parliament, he explained that the new solutions would further harmonise energy legislation with the EU.
The Minister said that all branches of the Serbian energy sector will thus be open to free investment and free market competition.
We have strengthened the role of the Energy Agency and we have tried to create conditions for reforms and the restructuring of the energy sector, he stressed.
The main objectives of this law are increasing the security of energy supplies and energy sources, further development of the energy market by increasing competition, simplification of procedures to facilitate investment in energy, and increasing investment in renewable energy, he said.
We are not adopting this law for Europe but for the citizens of Serbia, said Mrkonjic and recalled that the energy sector will have large investments and will employ local companies.
The new law will guarantee greater legal security for investments, the Minister underlined.
Gas market will be regulated better with the right of access by third parties, he said and added that renewable energy sources are also a priority.
Mrkonjic also recalled that the market of oil products was liberalised early this year and added that the Serbian government no longer determines the prices of derivatives.
