Minister of Human and Minority Rights, Public Administration and Local Self-Government Milan Markovic today stated that amendments to the Law on local elections are a step forward to the creation of a better political life and greater responsibility of authorities and citizens.
Elaborating on the proposed amendments at the Serbian Parliament, Markovic stressed that they revoke blank resignation letters at a local level, regulate the participation of the less represented gender in local assemblies and prescribe that assembly members are appointed in the order in which they were listed.
The Minister pointed out that one of the amendments introduces the provision that elections must be held within 60 days from the date when they were called.
