Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica met today with a World Bank (WB) delegation, led by Regional Coordinator for Europe and Central Asia Orsalia Kalantzopoulos, to discuss achievements in the consolidation of institutions in Serbia and the state union of Serbia-Montenegro.

Kostunica reiterated that a European orientation is Serbia’s permanent vocation and said the establishing of the rule of law, combat against corruption, and bringing domestic regulations into line with those in the European Union are the country’s top priorities. He also stressed the importance of the WB’s further engagement in projects in Serbia-Montenegro.
The WB delegation is on a visit to Serbia for talks on a third overhaul of a financial arrangement with Serbia-Montenegro. The WB has set aside $570 million for the country’s rods, energy sector, and infrastructure over the past three years, while a further $550 million has been earmarked for the next three years.
