Violence against Serbs is unacceptable, said Grossman. Stressing that such crimes must not repeat, he said that perpetrators and masterminds of crimes against Kosovo Serbs must be brought to justice and punished.
It is necessary to secure additional institutional guarantees for the Kosovo Serb community, the Prime Minister said, noting that decentralisation would ensure safety for Serbs and other non-Albanians, as well as the necessary protection of human rights in line with European standards.
The US Undersecretary of State agreed that decentralisation should be discussed and added that the international community will insist on achieving actual standards in the province, primarily those concerning safety and freedom of movement.
Speaking about the Serbian government's priorities, Kostunica stressed that the government aims to consolidate state institutions, combat corruption and reform the judiciary and police. There is also readiness and the political will to improve the efficiency of all state union institutions, the Prime Minister added.
Stressing that the Serbian government is aware of its international obligations, Kostunica said that the country's cooperation with the war crimes tribunal in The Hague should not harm stability of its institutions.
