Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica met today in Belgrade with Russian Minister of Emergency Situations Sergei Shoigu, who informed Kostunica about the arrival of two planes carrying humanitarian aid for Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija and delivered him letters of support from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov.

President Putin voiced hope that the Serbian government will insist on finding a lasting and just solution to the problem in the province, adding that Serbia can count on Russia's support and assistance.
Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov voiced hope that the Serbian government will do its level best to increase political stability, resolve the most important economic problems and find a solution to the situation in the province, which largely influences the overall peace and stability in southeastern Europe.
Lavrov welcomed the Serbian government's decision to extend its cooperation with the Russian Federation, adding that Russia is ready for further development of ties with Serbia-Montenegro.
