The Council commended the police, the prosecution and security services on their engagement and professional response to protect citizens’ property and security and maintain public law and order.
Having conducted a thorough analysis, the Council has concluded that in such situations the police have the right to use all legal authority to preserve general security.
The Council has asked all relevant state organs to continue with their relentless struggle against organised crime, extremist fan groups and other extremist organisations which strive to endanger the security of the state and its citizens, reads the statement from the Serbian President’s Press Office.
The President is also Chairman of the National Security Council, whose other members include ministers of defence, the interior and justice, the Chief of the Serbian Army General Staff, the Director of the Security and Intelligence Agency and heads of the Military Security Agency and the Military Intelligence Agency.
