The Serbian parliament has appointed Dejan Soskic the new governor of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) today, and the MPs also voted on the termination of the term of office of the previous governor Radovan Jelasic.

Jelasic resigned from the post of governor on 23 March this year for personal reasons, as stated by him.
Dejan Soskic was born in Belgrade in 1967, and he graduated from the Faculty of Economics in 1989 as the best student at Belgrade University of his generation.
He got his master's degree in 1993 and his PhD in 1999 in the same faculty.
Soskic is a market capital expert and he worked as a professor in the United States in graduate and postgraduate studies. He did specialisations in the field of financial markets in the United States three times.
He was a special advisor for the financial market at the National Bank of Yugoslavia, advisor for economic policy at the advisory centre for economic and legal affairs of the European Union, member of the NBS Council and member of the Economic council of the Serbian Prime Minister.
He is a member of the Presidency of the Scientific society of economists, and is the author and co-author of several scientific books.
