Speaking at a joint conference, Sutanovac pointed out that this agreement is also important at a professional and political level and it creates possibilities for even stronger military cooperation between Serbia and Croatia.
Sutanovac said that Serbia will use Croatia’s experience in peacekeeping missions since it is planned that Serbia’s soldiers are to join missions in Lebanon and Cyprus by the end of the year.
He reiterated that the Partnership for Peace, which Serbia joined in 2006, is a sufficient framework for cooperation with NATO and that the Partnership for Peace will open an office in Belgrade this summer.
Vukelic underlined that the Agreement signed gives a good basis for even better cooperation, noting that this document is important for stabilisation of relations between the two countries, as well as for the entire region of southeastern Europe.
The two ministers also discussed cooperation in military education and military industry. Concrete steps for cooperation will be examined by the two countries’ experts.
Vukelic voiced the hope that this Agreement will help the normalisation of relations between Serbia and Croatia and that it will be well accepted in the region.
