In his opening remarks, Đurić assessed that the establishment of the strategic dialogue represents a historical milestone in Serbian-American relations and a step by which bilateral relations, after 145 years of diplomatic ties, are returning to the level which two countries that were allies in both world wars deserve.
He expressed special gratitude to Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the leadership of the State Department for their vision and political will to recognise Serbia not only as a strategic partner but also as a reliable ally.
The Minister underlined that the fact that the first round of the strategic dialogue begins precisely during the administration of President Trump, at a time when Serbia and the United States share similar views on a number of key international issues, such as the importance of state sovereignty, economic development and energy security, is of particular importance.
The head of Serbian diplomacy emphasised that the strategic dialogue will provide regular, continuous and structured communication at the highest level, as well as a platform for deepening cooperation in the areas of foreign policy, security, energy, trade, investment, science, education, innovation and high technologies.
Đurić pointed out that the first round of this dialogue is already bringing concrete results, including the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Energy Infrastructure and Regional Energy Security, the Memorandum of Understanding on the Fulbright Academic Exchange Program, as well as Serbia's accession to the Artemis Accords, which makes our country part of the global initiative for peaceful space exploration and the development of the most modern technologies.
The most successful partnerships are not built with a single meeting, but with trust, consistency and the ability to achieve concrete results together. The strategic dialogue is a historic step towards strengthening the strategic partnership and represents a pillar of modern bilateral relations between Serbia and the United States, the Minister concluded.
