Inspector General of the Serbian Ministry of Interior (MUP) Vladimir Bozovic talked yesterday with a delegation from the European Commission to Serbia-Montenegro, led by First Secretary David Hudson, about the role and jurisdiction of the Inspector General and the MUP Service of the Inspectorate General.

Bozovic briefed EC representatives on the results of the Service's work on tracking irregularities in the work of police officers, read a statement by MUP.
The Inspector General said that since his appointment to the office in April this year, the Service has submitted 45 criminal complaints against 55 MUP workers. Speaking about citizens' confidence in the Service, Bozovic said that he has personally talked with 360 citizens so far.
First Secretary David Hudson said that the EC delegation initiated a series of meetings with representatives of ministries in Serbia-Montenegro to discuss the preparation of the feasibility study on accession to the EU.
Hudson expressed interest in the Service's work concerning citizens' complaints, measures for fighting police corruption and the prevention of torture by police officers, as well as in the issue of adoption of new police law.
Bozovic pointed out that the Service of the Inspectorate General is ready for open cooperation with the EC delegation to Serbia-Montenegro in the process of the state union's accession to the EU.
