Serbia takes leading role in region to combat crime

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said today that Serbia has become a leading country in the region regarding the fight against crime and cooperation between prosecutors’ offices in order to combat all forms of crime.

Speaking at a session of the Serbian Parliament’s committee on defence and security, Dacic said that the Serbian police carried out several successful operations during 2009 and 2010 at regional and global levels. He also mentioned the good results achieved by the Serbian Security and Intelligence Agency.
A lot has been done to combat organised crime and drug trafficking, significantly improving Serbia’s credibility, said Dacic.
Today’s terrorist attacks on the Moscow underground show that all countries must put up a joint fight against international terrorism and organised crime, he said.
The Moscow attacks show that these things can happen anywhere in the world, Dacic said.
