Also, a set of laws in the field of science and intellectual property was adopted today, the aim of which is to improve scientific systems and stop the brain drain from Serbia.
Namely, they are a Law on the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU), a Law on the labels of geographic origin, a Law amending the Law on science and research, and a Law amending the Law on innovative activities.
MPs passed amendments to the Law on state survey and cadastre and the Law on international road transport.
They also passed laws concerning the affirmation of a police cooperation agreement with the French government, an agreement on police cooperation for combating crime with the Swiss government and an agreement on cooperation for fighting against drug trafficking, terrorism and other serious crimes with Israel.
Laws on the affirmation of a readmission agreement with Switzerland, a police cooperation agreement concerning the return of illegal immigrants with Croatia and a readmission agreement with Norway were passed.
Laws on the affirmation of an agreement on reciprocal recognition of driving licences with Spain and an agreement on border transport and border crossings with Bosnia-Herzegovina were passed.
A Law on the affirmation of the Patent Law Treaty concluded on 1 June 2000 in Geneva was passed. A Law on the affirmation of the guarantee agreement (refinancing of short term debt, construction of an underground gas storage facility and the maintenance of the gas supply network) between Serbia and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development was passed.
MPs also passed a Law on the affirmation of a loan and financing agreement between KfW and Serbia (water supply and sewage in middle sized municipalities in Serbia – phase 2), a Law on the affirmation of the International Convention on the Protection of New Varieties of Plants and a Law on the affirmation of an agreement between Serbia and the United States regarding the status of the International School in Belgrade.
MPs elected Aleksandar Resanovic to the office of Deputy Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection and Gordana Susa as a member of the Serbian Broadcast Agency.
The passing of these laws and these decisions regarding certain appointments ends the Serbian Parliament’s first sitting of the spring session which began on 2 March.
The spring session began in a ceremonious atmosphere as under the newly adopted Parliamentary Law, a Serbian Army guard was present at the entrance to the House of Parliament and the national anthem was played. This will be the customary opening and closing ceremony for parliament sessions from now on.
