Retail prices edged up 0.5 percent in October, not including the latest hike in the prices of oil products, Dimitrijevic told a press conference today, noting that retail prices rose 9.7% so far this year.
According to him, the retail price increase will stand at between 12 percent and 12.5 percent this year.
The Minister went on to say that fluctuations in global oil prices are unpredictable, stressing that the government is making every effort to keep domestic prices of oil derivatives within citizens' reach. He also noted that Serbia's oil and oil products prices are still the lowest in the region.
Citizens needed one average monthly net salary in September to cover the minimum consumer price basket, which stood at 12,370 dinars, said Dimitrijevic, noting that 1.37 salaries were required to cover the average consumer price basket, which was 19,850 dinars.
The average monthly net salary in the same month stood at 14,444 dinars, the Minister added.
He also noted that Novi Sad, Belgrade and Pancevo paid average monthly salaries above the national average in September, while average salaries in Kragujevac, Kraljevo and Leskovac were below the national average.
