Belgrade, Oct 26, 2004 –Industrial production in Serbia, excluding Kosovo-Metohija, rose by 11 percent against the 2003 monthly average, while September 2004 output inched up 6.3 percent in comparison with the same period last year. In January-September 2004, industrial production has risen by 6.9 percent against the same period of 2003, the Serbian Statistical Office stated.
By sectors, Serbia’s industrial production in September rose 15.4 percent in the processing industry while ore and stone extraction grew two percent. A drop of 2.7 percent was recorded in the production and distribution of electricity, gas and water.
The production of intermediary goods, excluding energy, jumped 29.8 percent whereas the production of durable consumer goods rose 16.7 percent and non-durable consumer goods 1.9 percent. A drop of 0.1 percent in energy production was recorded.
A total of 22 sectors, accounting for 79 percent of overall industrial output, reported a growth in September, while seven sectors, which make up 21 percent of the country’s industrial production, recorded a drop.
Total industrial output in September rose by 11 percent against the 2003 monthly average, while the total processing industry rose by 15.3 percent.
